Cambridge Writers Poetry Group meets once a month. Sometimes we have loose
themes ("translation", "humour", etc - see the newsletter for details). All
types of poetry are welcomed, though we tend to focus more on publication
than performance. We begin meetings with news of competitions, events and
magazines. Then we look at poems. People needn't bring poems, nor need they
bring their own poems. Usually we follow the "standard workshop format"
* The poet passes round copies of the poem
* People read the poem to themselves
* The poet reads the poem out
* Everyone except the poet discusses the poem
* When invited, the poet joins the discussion
so if you're bringing a poem, try to bring 8 copies.
